The topics covered were: food labelling, preparing a healthy plate and eating for good eye health.

In the last activities programmed on the occasion of the CSIC Science Week at the Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition, the students of the first year of the Dietetics vocational training course of the IES Ciudad Escolar and the students of the Microbiological and Biotechnological Tests Course of the Public Employment Service of the Community of Madrid have been able to enjoy the talks:

Food labelling: What should we know? Given by Concepción Sánchez Moreno, who explained the legislation governing food labelling and the meaning of certain nomenclatures and healthy product labels.

How do I prepare my healthy dish? Belén Zapatera and Tatiana Pintado presented the current Healthy Eating Pyramid, which pays attention to issues such as emotional health and physical exercise at its base. In addition, they gave indications on how to have a complete and balanced diet, the configuration of a balanced plate and ideas for substituting foods with low nutritional value.

How to eat to improve eye health. Begoña Olmedilla indicated which foods contribute to eye health and help to reduce the risk and symptoms of diseases such as macular degeneration.
